Some places stop you in your tracks. Merlin's Cottage is one of them.
Set on a quiet, dead-end country lane high on the North Cornwall coast, the cottage looks out across an endless sweep of Atlantic ocean from its private, enclosed garden. The views are uninterrupted and panoramic, stretching for miles in both directions along the coastline. On clear days, the horizon seems to go on forever. On stormy ones, it is just as magnificent.
Inside, four generously proportioned bedrooms sleep eight in real comfort. The cottage was recently updated with a brand new kitchen, an additional bathroom and a new boiler, meaning everything works as well as it looks. The open plan kitchen, dining room and conservatory is ideal for large groups gathering together, while the separate games room and cosy sitting room mean there is always somewhere to escape to, whatever the weather or the mood.

Things to do nearby
The South West Coast Path is on your doorstep, with clifftop trails in both directions offering some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the country. Walk north towards Boscastle or south towards Port Isaac and Padstow. Trebarwith Strand, a wild and beautiful natural beach with crashing surf, is just a ten-minute walk down the valley. The village of Tintagel, steeped in Arthurian legend and home to its clifftop castle ruins and the celebrated new footbridge spanning the gorge, is also ten minutes on foot, with good local pubs and restaurants close by.
For surfing and sailing, Rock and Polzeath are just twenty minutes by car down a beautiful coastal road. Bodmin Moor, dramatic and wild and wonderful for walking and mountain biking, is six miles away.
